An Introduction to Me...

My name is Jessica Pettyjohn and I am 29 years old. I am currently a Career and Technology Education teacher certified in the state of Texas. I have had a variety of teaching experiences that range from middle school BCIS, Career Investigations, and Modular Technology to high school Communication Graphics, also known as Graphic Design. I even spent two years as a Communication Applications (public speaking) teacher and UIL Speech and Debate Coach.

My husband and I live in Nolanville, Texas which is right next to Killeen and Fort Hood. I am an Army brat and an Army wife. I'm very proud of my husband who just returned from his third tour of duty in Iraq. We have fun watching Longhorn football, riding our motorcycle, traveling and spending time with family and friends. We recently had our first child and she is the light of our lives.

I am very blessed with a family that fully supports my quest to further my own education. I look forward to getting to know and learning from everyone else in my graduate courses.

The Purpose of My e-Portfolio

This e-Portfolio is designed to organize, store and exhibit my course work and professional research as I complete my Master of Education in Educational Technology at the University of Texas at Brownsville. This collection of my work will serve as an indicator of my personal and professional growth as an educator, a Master Technology Teacher and as a student. I invite you to check back often for updates on my progress and to leave any comments or feedback that you would like to share.

Master Technology Teacher Mission Statement

Administrative educational goals have to encompass a wide range of issues and must create solutions to problems that affect both teachers and students. As a Master Technology Teacher, my mission is to assist all district educators in the development of solutions to budget constraints, standardized testing demands, evolving student learning needs and usage of advanced technological integration techniques. These issues will be solved as students are prepared for future endeavors through the cultivation of twenty-first century skills such as professional, technological, interpersonal, intrapersonal, learning and basic educational skills. These talents will be honed by exploring the evolving educational needs of our students as social media experts, instant gratification seekers, independent learners, digital learners and life-long learners.
